Yes, our teachers are qualified native English speakers.
‘When can I come to take an IELTS or General English placement test?’
Although you can come anytime between 8am and 5pm, the ideal time to sit for a placement test is between 8am and 2pm.
‘How long are your General English classes?’
Our General English classes last 2 hours, from Sunday to Wednesday.
‘Do we get a certificate at the end of the course?‘
Yes, you will receive a certificate upon completion of the course.
‘Is the course accredited by Ministry of Manpower?’
Yes, our courses are accredited by the Ministry of Manpower.
‘How many levels do you have?’
We have a total of 10 levels, which are dispersed among 5 main groups: Beginner, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, and Upper-Intermediate.
‘What book do you use for General English classes?’
We use the New Headway series publish by Oxford University Press, along with supplementary materials to support your learning experience.
‘What is the equivalent band score for General English class?’
Depending on the level, the classes range from a 1.0 band (Beginner), up to a 7.0 band (Upper-Intermediate).
‘How many students are in each class?’
Our classes tend to not have more than 10 students in each class.
‘Can my son/daughter, who is still in high school join General English classes?’
Yes, after sitting for a placement and having a consultation with our teaching staff, your teenage child may join one of our classes with your approval.
‘What is the difference between the 4-week course and 2-week course?’
While our 2-week course is a high level class which focuses on IELTS tips and strategies to maximize your chances of getting a higher score, the 4-week course puts a strong focus on English language improvement. It is more suitable to those targeting 4.5 to 5.5 bands.
‘Can I take a 1-week course?’
If you are pressed by time, and you wish a review of each skill before taking the test, a 1-week course may be suitable for you. To be eligible, you need to sit for a placement test or present a recent IELTS certificate (6 months or less) with an overall band score not less than 5.5.
‘Why do I have to take an IELTS placement test before registering for an IELTS course?’
If you haven’t taken the IELTS recently, a placement test is necessary in order for our team to determine if your level is high enough for an IELTS score, and which course would be more suitable for your level and your objectives.
‘I already took IELTS and have my band score. Do I still need to take the placement test?’
No, you do not need to take the placement test if you can provide a recent IELTS certificate (6 months or less) with an overall band score of 5.5 (4.5 for a 4-week course).
‘Why should I take General English classes before taking an IELTS course?’
Simply because IELTS is an English test, and whether you wish to take IELTS for academic, migration or work purposes, it is important to know the basics or reinforce your knowledge of the English language in order to improve your potential IELTS score.
‘Is it possible to go from a 5.5 to 7 IELTS band score in 2 weeks?’
It is not impossible, but it is very rare. Some people are very good at English but just need to learn more about what is required from them on the day of the test, while practicing a lot. For those people, the improvement may be very quick. But if your issues include weak grammar or spelling, then 2 weeks is definitely not enough to go from a 5.5 to 7.
‘Do you offer all-day workshops?’
Yes, we offer a workshop from 8.30 to 6pm, with a study of all skills from 8:30am till 2:00pm, followed by a practice test from 3pm to 6pm. Please contact us for more information on dates and prices.
‘Do you offer split skill workshops?’
We currently do not offer split skills workshops.
‘Do you offer private lessons?’
Yes, we do offer private lessons. Please enquire with reception for prices and request a consultation with our teaching staff. This will allow us to determine your needs and availability.
‘When are the IELTS practice exams?’
The IELTS practice exam is held every Thursday (except when there is a National holiday), between 3pm and 6pm.
‘Can I change the day of the practice test?’
If you are not available to sit for the practice test on the regular day and/or time, you may request a practice test on a different day for a total fee of RO 20. However, you must make an appointment with our staff before so we can make sure all materials are arranged for you.
‘Can I get feedback on the same day as the practice test?’
We usually have results ready on the following Sunday after the practice test. You may receive feedback on the same day, but you have to notify the Center at the time you register for the test, and for a total fee of RO 15.
‘Can I submit my writing for feedback? What are the charges?’
You can submit IELTS Writing tasks for feedback, a minimum of 3 papers (Task 1 & 2) shall be submitted, and upon correction it will be followed by a 15-minute consultation with an instructor. The overall fee is RO 25.
